Lieuwe Shotgun vs Lieuwe Oceana

Here is a review about the Lieuwe shotgun and the Lieuwe oceana, I didn't know which board suited me best, so I got the opportunity to test both boards!

I like to kite in strong wind (40 knots) and would like to jump as high as possible, but I mostly ride in choppy conditions, so that is why I doubt between the shotgun, which is good in chop, and the oceana, which is their best big air board.

First of all, the difference between the shotgun and the oceana is that the oceana is much stiffer than the shotgun, because the core is thicker, especially the rail. If we look at the bottom of both boards, we will see that the oceana has an extra channel close to the rail. Because of this channel you will not lose your grip in the hardest wind, and you can hold your edge really well.

The shotgun has a thin rail which makes you pop really easily, and, in this way, you can generate a lot of power to jump as high as you jump with an oceana.

The landings are softer with the shotgun because this board is more flexible, and it is really friendly for your knees.

Both boards cuts through the water very easily, but the shotgun definitely wins in choppy water with a high speed.

My conclusion on both boards is that I would choose the shotgun for choppy conditions under the 35 knots, and the oceana for the stormy conditions. The smallest size of the oceana is a 137 which looks quite big for a big air board, but it was perfect for me ( 182cm and 67kg )

Besides that I think that the designs are super sick and I'm glad I was able to test both boards now

Let me know if you have any questions about one of these Lieuwe boards

I'm thinking about a 138 or 141 shotgun. I'm 90 kg. Which is more suitable?

We just ordered a shotgun, not here yet but before ordering wrote an email (info@lieuweboards.com) telling them rider weight, type of riding and they gave us a fast response. Would recommend doing that. Bigger headache was chosing from the designs for the shotgun, some pretty sweet ones available. If you are in no hurry I can tell you how the 141 is for 85 kgs in october.

Why did you go the 141? Is that for boots, as size guide suggests 138 for 85kgs?

Oh no, the board is for my brother rocking around 120 kg but I'll definitely try it. We were looking at a one board solution for him that works for freeride/jumping and easy on the knees but not so soft that it feels like a wet noodle. We met a guy at sandy bay in exy 3 years ago that had a shotgun and was talking it up quite a bit, hoping it lives up to the hype
