I gave it a go at the end of my session. Definitely my favourite app now as I got my first 19m jump
Happy to forward back to backs against woo if that helps as I had both running at the time. Might be my poverty spec 245 but it sort of seemed to crash at the end (10 minute session) and I have no idea how to access the intermediate jumps in Garmin app although all the GPS and heart rate stuff is there.
Seems good for a beta. Jump height a bit inconsistent (once high but often less than 1m). Hangtime seemed relatively close though.
Good work!
Thanks for the link, and the work you put into this. Going to try it this weekend... Although the only Air i get at the moment is the accidental air....
0.2.6 Released.
Three crash bugs fixed, added developer tools, detect sensitivity changed, minor jump height calculation change. Still expecting mid Dec jumpt height major update
I gave it a go again yesterday, it didn't crash but it doesn't really detect jump anymore at first I thought it was because I jumped during the calibrating phase but then I stopped/started again waited for it to finish just riding, it detect 1-2 jumps and then just keep displaying my speed.

When I used it on the weekend (and I left the water a total of ZERO times) I now have a record of 2.1M high jump and a 50.1m long jump and a 9 sec hang time.....

Did you punch the air in triumph at any point

I looked at the data........ somebody was doing this :)
fb.watch/h9wdLkotkd/
In all seriousness I also experienced 11 fake jumps on my last outings in 6 - 7 kts, due to my almost continous crazy pumping up and falling back into the water. I've since released a new version with a new gameplan on how to filter out those types of fake jumps. It will both increase jump detection, and also decrease the fake jumps, but may require a little further tweeking once I get some more data back & user feedback.
Version 0.4.3 Beta released,
False jump detection improvements, along with CGM end of session statistics bug fixes.
Jump Height Improvement update coming later this month
Nice.. I've been waiting this to come so I can buy a Garmin watch :)
I can create an mobile app to see jumps and statistics and history data after the session. And a login with social element can be added to share with friends, tag place and follow other people if you want :)
Connect me at my email donvasilev at yahoo :)
I wouldn't rush out to buy one just for this app, as it's still in beta - and there is a small chance, a small small chance that I don't get there.
Having said that, my other app just just about everything under the sun except the kitesurf jump heights.
Called Sail Racer, and allready has post session summary data in the Garmin Connect Mobile app stlye
Time for a new years update folks.
I'm getting close. Hangtime is pretty much optimized, and I need about 1 more sessions' data to complete the Kite Jump height.
What do you think? Would you use it?
Since I already have woos I will prob just stick with that but if I was starting out and just wanted to track my jumps and progress with just a watch I reckon I would use ir until I got to the point where I wanted to spend the extra cash and get a woo (or two)
If WOO is the "golden" standard, then you are putting it to shame! A general device without dedicated HW, "one-man army" of SW developers achieving similar results/accuracy in couple of months as an entire company over years span and multiple iterations of the HW! Amazing! Thank you!

I hope I can get the jump heights as accurate.... moderately confident at this stage.
The only app that does watch only height measurements is the Surffr app. And you need to pay for the pro subscription. It's good value and it allows your Apple watch to measure all aspects of your kite session. Soon to come on wear Os. Wont be on garmon for a while. Check out the website

Incorrect.
My app is watch only, and that is any Garmin watch.
Here is my latest comparison with the WOOs :)
I would compare with Surfr, but I don't have an applewatch. I find them too heavy on the power use compared to garmin for outdoor stuff.
Blue is my Garmin watch app, the green lines are the 2 x WOO's (One is WOO1, one is WOO3). Jump height on the left, jump number along the bottom
Again, thanks so much for your effort this Nick!
I just bought a 2nd hand Fenix 6 Pro ($360 on gumtree) and installed your app.
Just had a first session with it, although marginal conditions.. very happy. Great app!
Stuff me.... nice jump :)
As I said on the " other" thread.. making progress on the coding side, but I really, really need some strong wind bigger jump data (hopefully this weekend )
I got all my testing equipment ready, and whenever that happens the wind normally dies :)
fenix 6 pro is a nice watch !
Quick update,
Got the data I was looking for, and started a comparison with two alternate codes, and so far they are both very similar.
Also I have discovered a bug, but have not yet discovered exactly how it's getting in there. Is producing different jump heights ..... sometimes...... from the same data, which is a head scratcher at the moment.
The next beta will be called 2.0 since it has completely new jump height implementation.
@dachopper I mentioned your project in the latest kitesurf365 TechCAST on jump height measurement:

Thanks mate...
I've had plenty of user feedback also.
This weekend, I'll try adding a jump graph to the Garmin session summary.
I still have a yet undiscovered bug in one half of the AI part of the jump calculation, having difficulties finding where it's coming from. Once that is figured out, I'll add the AI stuff to the next beta.

Tell you what.
I don't think it's super accuracy people want. As was mentioned, the social aspect of showings others, and being in your own daily / weekly competition is probably the number 1 priority.
I think number 2 and 3 are rider ergonomics.
Either audio or visual ( HUD on glasses ) feedback rather than needing to check your phone or even look at the watch
Kitejump Beta 2.0 released
Fixed app crash error
Added post session jump height in Garmin Conmnect Mobile
Fixed post session summary data in Garmin Connect Mobile
Improved Jump data accuracy
Keep the feedback coming !
Nick
Not sure whats up with your woo's reading so differently. 90% of my sessions the woos are with 0.3m of each other at worst. something does not seem right as your seeing up to 6m different on some jumps between woos which def seems super odd
Start jumps are super choppy ( About 1 - 2 feet, and high speed ramming into them....
Last jumps are where the Woo1 and woo3 are similar, that is in very flat water 10% the size of chop, and I could go max speed, I could not in the chop.
Pretty clear the Woo's struggle a little with the heaving banging into chop - hence the difference between them. I don't know which one is correct, but I would assume new hardware + new software should mean the 3 is more accurate.
Having said that, they both missed or underscored what was undoubtedly a gargantuan jump by me in that session.
Having the watch mounted on the wrist removes a lot of that issue, but introduces other issues which are always there, which is why you can see the accuracy is there or there abouts in chop, or in flat water. Makes not much difference to a wrist mounted watch.
I can tighten that up too, and have a path ahead to do it.
Kitejump Beta 2.0 released
Fixed app crash error
Added post session jump height in Garmin Conmnect Mobile
Fixed post session summary data in Garmin Connect Mobile
Improved Jump data accuracy
Keep the feedback coming !
Thank you so much Nick for putting all that time and effort into developing this amazing app!!
I would also like to agree and disagreee with you about what people want from this apps.
Yes, of course the posting/sharing in socials and friends is a huge factor, but I believe there's no much point of doing that if the measurements are all "fake"
A few sessions ago I crashed and my watch screwed my all time record with a phantom 28m high jump
Anyway, will try the new update release as soon as the wind is back.
Thank you again!

Thanks thered,
Trying the perfect the measurements really is a never ending problem.
Let me know if you get any crashes, or anything that seems unrealistic.
For sure there is big upgrades in the 2.0 beta calculations, vs the previous beta, and there is always room for more improvements.
You should be able to reset your records aswell in the menu once the app is on. They will also reset in the Garmin Connect Mobile app - again limited testing on that part as I've not been out there in it since the release.
I've been using this a bit now and have the newer version. Definitely still getting some random heights, apparently I jumped 60m high yesterday.
i deleted the session but the record stayed until I
reset the records, not sure if that could be changed so I could have kept my previous data?
It missed a few jumps as well. The water is super choppy at the spot, although not much swell as on a bay.
Really enjoy having it, thanks for all your hard work, please keep going!
