Ok so I'm in a bit of a home maintenance period while I wait to get back on the water...

The glue where the main sail fabric joins the leading edge of my kite (whole length) is starting to go a bit soft and come unstuck if I pull at it. The kite is still structurally strong along this area due to stitching all along the same seam (or at least it seems to be strong). However should I worry about this or is it normal for an old kite? I guess my main concern is keeping sand etc out of the inner tube area to avoid punctures etc. Kite is maybe 5 years old. Ozone zephyr.

If I should reglue it, what is the best glue to use?

(dealing with glues seems to be the bane of my life at the moment...)

Hi Bramber,

What you are seeing there is not glue. It is double sided "Spinnaker tape". It is used to stick the canopy materials to the dacron or any other lap jointed seam. Do not glue it, and just be happy. This is normal. The stitching will hold it nicely. The seams are lapped and stuck with the tape, then sewn.

That's relief... I really didn't fancy having to glue something that long.
