Nice! Especially like waveboards from 64L to 124L !!!!
Everyone else has condensed down so much (too much?)
And a price WELL under the others too.
In an industry dominated by the metric system they give their dimensions in feet, inches, and fractions.
Haa, true !!, their back ground is surf boards and sup's, before windsurf boards.
When I talk / reference surf boards and sup's, I talk in old imperial, feet/inches, when I talk windsurfing I talk in metric, litres, cm etc ?, prob reflects the different markets and the attitudes of each. Funny I've wave-sailed for 15 yrs plus only ever talked centimetres, litres. Surf boards and sup's still feet/inches but also litres !!. ??
But windsurfers are newer than sups , so shouldn't they be metric ?
and
if they want to be funky old school shouldn't they be measured in cubic feet instead of litres ?
I'm talking for myself, If you are telling me you windsurfing specs in Metric I will be able to understand it more. If you giving me your surfing/Sup in Metric, I'll have to convert in Imperial!! lol. Weird isn't it! ;-)
Sunova probably the only true Australian windsurfing brand, with global reach, massive product line spanning a range of watercraft surfboards, SUP and windsurfers and with a WA heritage. I think, unless I am mistaken, the brand in some form was involved in windsurfing in the 1980s producing the wooden boards back then from a Mandurah factory. There was a retailer who sold the boards in Cottesloe in the late 1980s.

YES Bert was based in WA where he was born ,their huge factory is now in Thailand ,
Up until a year ago all their SUPs came with mast tracks ...Tino the CEO of sunova is a crazy windsurfer and foiler .
Their boards are really tuff ...and you can get any custom paint job or measurements you want to order .in feet or metric .
I have not brought a windsurfing board off them yet ...but thinking of a custom ..

Thanks Tardy. I do remember seeing the Sunova windsurf boards in Jarrad St , Cottesloe, I think it was in the 1980s or later..they were not like glass customs, did not interest me and had vent screws or breather plugs. I thought it was weird but they are the way today !
I Do a lot of ocean sailing ,I'm thinking a free ride . 122 litre ..perfect for 7,0 and enough for up hauling .
yeah still having trouble in my head with feet into metric conversion ..but when i think SUP ,no problem ,go figure ,
they landed here in New Cal last year but with very limited success.
young local semi pro was offered a sunova freestyle board to demo and keep if interested.
he handed it back after 10 mins not impressed at all. said he'd rather pay for a starboard flare than compete with the sunova.
but that was last year, maybe shapes have improved !
though the downwind sups are really popular over here.
yeah its gonna be a tough market to break into ,time will tell .their DW sups are great as their wave boards .Because they have so many team riders testing and changing them to make them better .Plus Berts a great shaper ..
I Think they need to give me a free one to sample .
I haven't tried any myself but a good friend of mine in Germany who is a VERY good sailor just joined their team; he's coming from a career spent at starboard getting increasingly frustrated with the quality (or lack thereof) of their waveboards.
He's got a quiver of the two main wave boards and the wave C and told me he loves them. The main boards look like something between the Quatro cube and the JP ultimate wave and have a good turn on them with the right pilot. Doesn't seem to be a case of a pro making anything look good, because this guy couldn't make the starboards look good no matter how hard he tried, but he's been nailing it with the Sunovas.
Time will tell though!!
Their biggest uphill battle will be the lack of demo boards. While I like the look of their boards and have tried and like their Sups I wouldn't drop that much money without ever testing the board first.
I like the idea that they can build you more or less a semi custom. Perhaps that would be the route to go.
Naish is also now offering customs as well:
Wow! I've got the Sunova Acid SUP and LOVE it!!! Didn't know they made windsurfing boards, my Acid has a mast insert for sailing it as well. Great boards!
The boards are on the website now: sunovasurfboards.com/en/wind/windsurf
I have the ACID SUP surf board and it comes with a mast foot insert. It is a fantastic SUP surfboard so I should wavesail it one day and report back. I once sailed a Fanatic SUP surf board and it was hard to plane and was slow because of the rocker but it turned well - but put me off trying to windsurf a SUP as it didn't work well and I have loads of windsurfboards to use.

Interesting boards. Proves that any surf board company can easily make windsurf boards :) and any bottom shape of V into triple quadruple concave inverted semi-flat sectioned mono will just fly with enough wind.. lol and then if the bottom shape is super inefficient, they will say that the board has unlimited top end..
Feet and inches is a bummer. All people I know only use metric. I also totally understand how everything made out of carbon, dynema, glass .. but how people manage to layup/ make boards out of floor planks is not obvious. :) You guys sure planks are not going to unclick on flat landings...
Also it was fun to read the descriptions of their surf boards and styles. Not coming from surfing, I can only understand maybe half of what they say.. Also generally interesting that in surfing world quads are chosen for speed to ride Jaws or Teahapoo.

They obviously use a floating floor system .
And you can use floor polish to clean them too max ..
their Sups are pretty tough .wood then glass ...the wood absorbs impact well .also would have a nice flex .
I'm thinking of a free ride ocean going board later this year ,they will make what ever dims you want .
and any colour ... I 'm guessing i will be the crash test dummy here ..
