SWMBO has planned a shopping day around Coolangatta tomorrow...I get the pleasure of being the chauffeur to the area. Thinking of perhaps taking the Speeed down as it looks like being a decent day. Kirra & Greenmount look close by - any advice on whether they're SUP-friendly (obviously observing the usual etiquette & protocol, and staying out of the way). Snapper is probably a no-go for me at my skill level, but no idea about Kirra or Greenmount. Any alternative recommendations nearby?

No they aren't but if you go to North Kirra there is plenty of spots there.

Great vid!!!

I spent a week at Kirra. Had fun, but when there were waves there were drop-ins galore. They were shameless. It was fun though, you just can't expect a wave to yourself. (I was not there when it was big).

I often wonder what happened to those guys who made all those good, early SUP videos. They just ended...like SUP became uncool, or something, and they all went back into shortboard obscurity

I know what you mean, not sure the reason but not as many as in the past.

More the supplier's doing vids - Gong, Smik and Infinty have some cool vids. Deep also feature the Dogman and Jackson Close in some nice clips of soul surfing.

You also need someone to film you from the beach, that's the most difficult part :-)

May be down inside at the Alley. I surf Rainbow and Greeny on the stand up when its small or lack luster dont cop much crap then. No one likes SUPs any where so just go and have fun and ignore the negativity! Irony: long boarders don't like us as we take waves from them that they were taking from the short boarders!! Dont be a hog and try to get waves that no one is looking at
