The waves were smaller than in my previous video, but they were still fun. Just a few waves to share.

Thanks guys. It was a fun session. They weren't huge, adrenaline-filled waves, but the perfect size for having fun!

But wait, there's more...

It was quite a long session and I could not understand why there were not more videos. So I looked at the GoPro's memory, and there they were! Why didn't they download, that's the question?

Here is part two of the video - the waves GoPro didn't want you to see

Thanks for sharing!!! There seems to be a consistent need to apologise for the waves being small,a lot of us love smaller waves safety /comfort /fun .Some one should start a thread calledTwo Feet and Under

Nice CSE! I love my blur v2 also! Fun in small and even big surf, but the 30.5 wide can be a pain in the ...once the size go up...but as you said previously as good as sunova in a different feel. Still thinking to go smaller on the v2?

Couldn't agree more . 1-2 foot clean , nicely formed waves on a point break or similar are heaven to me .
I won't go in anything bigger than 3 foot unless it is by accident which has happened .
It's the shape of the wave and so forth that really matters to me. 3 foot shore break close outs aren't much fun but 1 foot clean point breaks that feel like your on the wave for a minute are just to die for

Thanks!

I could not go smaller unless I lose a lot of weight or get a LOT better or get a lot younger. At 95 kg (and 6'3") I think the 121L/30.5"/8'5" is about my limit - without experiencing the constant frustration of falling in and missing waves.

You're right, I have had some of the best sessions in mid-size waves. I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie and love going after the bigger waves, even though it is harder for me to do the turns I love. But the size of the waves in that video, especially given the conditions (they were so clean) were almost perfect. I say "almost" because some of the waves were a bit fat, and occasionally it was hard to get the necessary speed going to perform the turns I love to try. I find myself paddling on the wave which probably makes no difference.

Nice! Pretty much this whole winter has sucked here. Loads of surf, but loads of wind, too, and always the wrong direction...

Ah the mysterious lost footage of the go pro. Very nice by the way, glad you found it. Beautiful session to document
But I as well just had a similar experience. First down load to laptop yielded some accidental burst photos, a lot of them and just 2 vids.
I thought the session was a loss and later found the other vids in the memory of the GoPro.

I so agree. Pointbreaks are a rare dream.

The winters now have more wind(onshore) here as well. Instead of days of rideable surf it is days of big onshore mess. And being mostly beachies here the surfable time is reduced to the sometimes single 3-4hr daylight low tide moment. So an average week can yield up one single session. I hope this is not the new winter climate here, used to be the least windy spot in Europe.

Thanks for sharing! I love the mid-size waves too. Big waves often become big-beach-break-close-outs in my neighborhood...

I am very fortunate to have a reef break to surf in the winter. In fact, there is an ocean reef break and bay reef break (when the swell is out of control at the ocean break), so as long as there is swell (almost always at the ocean break) and the wind is OK, it is relatively easy to get out to the line-up and get some waves.
