Looks really nice.
Is Mike Birt uk importer?
What did you go for in the end?
Looking forward to seeing how it goes, I ride a fanatic stylemaster 10'.
Fancy giving this one a go though.

Yes Mike is the importer. It's the 9'2 x 29 Hipster Longboard. Can't wait to see how it goes.

Bit of a dilemma - doesn't look like there will be any Smik shipments coming into the UK anytime soon but the distributor has a 9'2 x 29. Really wanted the 28'' wide ideally.

So my question is - how much less turning ability / edge to edge performance will the extra inch involve? and would I regret not waiting? Current board is also 29'' wide but 140L. I see the difference in volume between the 28'' and 29'' Hipster is just 4L.

Confused.

The 29" will still rip, and will be stable enough in crap conditions.

I have a 10 x 29 x 130L, and a 9 x 28 x 125ishL. Both customs.

The 10 x 29 now feels like a supertanker, and my gut feel is it's the combo of the extra foot in length AND the extra inch in width. It's a lot more surface area and a lot more out the front to turn. A little more volume makes it slightly more tippy side to side too, which I never noticed before.

Having said that, it still gets up and dances on a decent wave, and there's something about the size that makes it less daunting to throw it over a decent drop. Like a fricken freight train!

I've never been more settled on a board than my 9' x 28" hipster twin longboard, and I'm stoked that I took the plunge.

I have a 9.0 x 29 which I absolutely love
Just ordered a 8.7 x 28 x 113 lt to try as a not so long board shape
Im approx. 5.10 x 80kg

DS, just wondering how you went with the not-so-longboard. I'm interested in how you got on with the 8'7"x28" board you ordered

Hi Mark

I have only had a couple of surfs on it but really enjoyed it
Very stable and surfs well
For me its still has the longboard feel , maybe a mini mal type

Finally got out on it but in some pretty crappy waves - waist high at best and closing out most of the time. I did get a feel for the board though and think it's close to the ideal volume for me with the deck just above water. It felt really stable despite being 16l less the my Nut, it also seemed to catch just as well. In the couple of waves that didn't close out, I got a small taste how mow much more reactive it is than my old board and even in those conditions managed possibly the most satisfying re entry I've ever had on a SUP.

I'll let you know how it goes in some better waves (hopefully soon!).

I love mine, it feels very loose for a long board style. And pretty durable as I dropped it putting it back in van, just a scratch no damage. I have a style master 10' which is pure long board, prefer the Hipster for it's alive feel.

I have and it absolutely flies, feels a lot smaller than it is and I can throw it around so much easier than the nut.
Really struggling with withdrawals at the moment, hopefully not too much longer before we can get on the water again.

What a beauty! had the choice between the smik hipster longboard twin 10 and the normal hipster 8 , took the small one, i have already two10 lonboard and even if i was dying to get it i believe having two 10 already coudnt justify another one even if twin so different feeling etc...maybe one day...but very happy with the smik hipster 8, different feeling etc...

Anyone around 100kg that has tried the 9'2 & the 10'? I am trying to figure out if I can find a size that I can happily use on smaller days (I'm around 60kg, and usually use a Smik Twin 7'8") that my partner (around 100kg) can use as well? Obviously left to my own devices I would just go for the 9'2x28" 120L - but not sure he would be so happy with it!

I'm 95kg and ride the 10x29 and a 9'2 x 29. They are super stable for there size.

I would take the 9'2 out in anything and stability was fine.

I'm with Nugdam.
I'm 100kg on a light day, and have surfed my 9' x 28" flat out since I picked it up around Easter last year. I was absolutely flying on some big greenies earlier this week. Such a good board.
My 10' x 29" doesn't get surfed as much as it used to. Having said that my young fella loves it, and when ever we go out together that is his board of choice. Loves the ease of getting it on to waves, the glide, the huge stable platform for doing tricks, and stepping back on the tail and flinging the swing weight around. He's 50kg wringing wet.
The first time I saw him hang ten on it made me think of an olympic diver hanging wayyyy out on the end of a diving board. Lol.

Hi guys.
ive been riding a 10x30 style lord which I love. I'm 105kgs and am ordering a hipster twin longboard. Can't decide if I should go to the 10x29 which has the same litreage as the 30" style lord or the 10x30 hippie twin which has an extra 7 litres. I find the 30" style lord is about right for stability and litres but wondering if the extra 7 litres on the HT 29" will compensate for being an inch narrower. Any one had any experience here or got any advice? TIA.
