I'm wondering how far out does Coros designated windsurfing zone actually go? My "local" mate says once you get to the waves they are fair-game for kites too (obviously with right of way and safety distance rules applying). At the end of the day there is plenty of waves for everyone up there but I'm interested to know the history of it.

dunno the history but my rule of thumb is head out from the kite launch area to the wavezone in one straight run. once you hit the wave zone everything downwind is kiter territory, everything upwind the poledancers can have.

Just go down to windmills on the track and launch
Its very rare they venture that far from home

Don't worry about the poleys they stay up in their spot, That joint was wing ding central on the weekend, glad we were only there to start a down winder, kiting there in amongst them littered through and in front of the the kite/launch zone floundering around is asking for someone to get hurt.
