I live in the Fremantle area and usually either kite woodies or do downwinders anywhere between cott to trigg.
For quite a while there i felt like the fish rocks wind reading was the most accurate for the woodies to cott area ( fish rocks is out from south beach, south Fremantle) but lately the wind reading has been way too enthusiastic. It seems like it is showing a lot more and even a bit different angles than what the wind really is.
I have seen a few times when other wind readings have broken and were facing in the wrong direction, I think it happened out at rotto a while back, but usually it seems like the wind strength is still pretty accurate. Fish rocks semms like it is off both in direction and wind strength. I have posted a shot of today's reading to illustrate.
I can say for certain it wasn't blowing 30 knots at 10am in Fremantle this morning. What do you reckon is going on with it and Laurie can you please fix it!!
I see there was no reply to this thread.
I too have used FSC Fish Rocks for the downwinder, as the Swanny readings are always low.
FSC readings are all over the place.
I assume FSC stands for Freo Sailing Club - I wonder if there is a way to get it fixed. Surely the yachties there would want it sorted to?

I am investigating with FSC (I am a member) . It is definitely over-reading about 5kn in a seabreeze, and this morning is over-reading about 10kn in a light norwester. I am new to these forums, how do we ask Seabreeze to put out an alert that the readings are inaccurate?
update on the Fish Rock anemometer:
The FSC Harbourmaster has been out to the site, the wind gauge had turned around at 180degs. He straightened it up and washed the solar panels with freshwater.
Unfortunately it is still over-reading so it might have to be removed for repair/recalibration.
I am reliably informed that the Fish Rocks anemometer has been removed for servicing. The device is an ultra-sonic device and had developed a fault that required returning to the service agent in Sydney
