Hi. Does anyone kiteboard in or nearby Williamstown beach. I normally kite Altona. Wondering if Williamstown might work on westerlies and north westerlies which are kind of offshore for Altona. Thanks Carlos.

Thanks. So its ok as long as you stay 200m off shore or 5kts speed limit. Anything else to consider? How about good launch sites?

There is really no good spots to take off and you could end up on the rock-wall. Winds are very gusty there, due to the shape of the bay and the surrounding trees and buildings. Plus not to mention all the people going to the beach. Some guys, myself included, have launched off here back in the day but it was a "once in a lifetime" session that I'd rather not repeat. We had to down-wind all the way to Altona too.

If you're stuck for choice - try Altona Dog Beach. That is a perfect place to launch on low tide, plenty of beach and wide open spaces with very little wind gusts. Unfortunately, some dog walkers will get their knickers in a knot.

-ex Altona local.

Thanks NK. In that case Ill stick to Altona. Dog beach looks awesome except for fact it is dog friendly. Cant think of anything worse than beach full of dogs running around
