Hello,

You sailed down from Kite Beach to Dendy St. tonight and continually went through the swimming area. A lady who was swimming there complained to one of the windsurfers walking down to the beach, saying bitterly that the sailor on the blue kite almost hit her as she was swimming, despite her waving her arm at you, to draw your attention to her. She said that as a result of the near collision, she would make a complaint to the council.

The kitesurfer was using a blue kite, about 11m in size, wore a black baseball cap and used a green harness. Your board was of the surfboard style, you continually boosted and I noted that you were quite a good sailor. I hope you recognise yourself from my description.

If the lady complains to the council, I expect they will complain to the police, so all sailors at Dendy St. should be very careful to avoid the swimming area, as the Police have booked sailors in the past. As for the kitesurfer who caused the problem, may I ask that you stay well away from the Dendy St. area in the future.

Hi WindmanV,
Thank you for the post. I am the kiter you described.
I sincerely apologise and take full responsibility for my actions.
The safety of all water users should always be first. I acknowledge what I did
was wrong and it won't happen again. I hope others reading this take note and also stay clear of swimming zones.

Good evening, Kite76,

Thank you for the very polite reply. We all make little mistakes and that includes me.

In passing, I did admire your kiting ability.

Just on this topic while kitebeach can be crowded with visitors on a hot day and usually best avoided I notice windsurfers use the area in front of the bathing boxes (or just south) which is a no boating zone?
