Hey,
Keen to get out and explore some new places to kite.
Just need further information about those two spots;
- suitable wind directions
- dangers
Thanks
Starting with waves : flinders back beach can be a great spot. Works in anything from E to W
Surfbreaks can be anything from mild to wild, big lefts ( mild and generally fat but can be big ) Cyril's nice steep right hander can also get big on its day. Others include car parks, meanos ( the left probably the heaviest wave here ).
There is really only one spot to launch at flinders back beach near the carpark at the bottom of the cliff, from here kite west to Cyrils, via big lefts or head east towards carparks, meanos.
Waves can also be tide dependant. There is also some pretty good flat water ( like butter flat ) around here on a low tide it can be shallow in spots but in behind the reef on low tide can be great.
Flinders front beach can also get great flat water near the pier and towards the yacht club. Works in anything from ESE to NNE.
There are also some wave spots inside western port that can be great in the right winds That can be more protected in a big swell.
Also consider Shoreham, PT Leo etc...
Thank for the detailed reply. As far a getting a accurate forcast do you go off BOM Westport or Meteye?
Usually both... Also bear in mind that the wind reading at Cerberus usually under reads by a few knots.
If it says 15 it's usually closer to 18 at the beach.
