Is it possible to get into the progression clinic scheduled for the first day without competing in any of the events? Was thinking of maybe going for amateur division, but judging from the promo video even your average amateur is way better at throwing tricks than I am. The progression clinic sounds like what I need.

Hi aroth,

Thanks for your message. To answer a few of your questions there, please accept the Promo Video is only that a Promo. Please do not get hung up on the idea if you are good enough or not as this is what the Amateur Divisions are all about for those that are in the early phase of their progression in Kiting and to introduce them into the exciting world of being inclusive at our Kiting Events. If you can ride out and back and stay up wind, maybe do a little jump or switch transition then this is good enough. Those in Amateur Division will not be necessarily judged on how good they are but more on ones keenness, enthusiasm and giving it a crack, which gives a more than even chance to win an award. So, more than likely the Amateur Division is right up your alley.

Apart from the great comradery, fun and bonding with many nice and happy Kiting buddies at the Event, there are some great prizes like a 2016 Liquid Force 133 Echo Kiteboard - proudly donated by Liquid Force and Moti Levy Kite Repairs and a 2016 Ride Engine Harness and a couple of Consolation Prizes up for grabs - proudly donated by Surf Connect, as a lucky random draw prize for all who enter online for the Kiting Event and show up and complete their registration at the Event. In addition to this you would receive a bag of goodies along with an Event T shirt. As well you are entitled to some food and drink (non alcohol) during the day at the Event and free Ten Pin Bowling on Friday Night and potentially some other prizes up for grabs. This all adds up to be extremely good value.

A Kiting Clinic will only be run on the Friday if the wind conditions are considered to be to marginal and not good enough to start running some competition heats and unfortunately the Clinic is only open to those that have entered the Comp. As it has to do with Insurances and alike, if you can appreciate. Certainly if you are not convinced by all the value on offer you could enter the Free Photographic Competition or perhaps try out some Demo Gear that F-One will have at the Event which is separate to the Event and organised by them F-One.

I think you would be doing yourself a huge service by entering the Kiting Event and Competition though aroth. All you need to do now is simply by clicking on the above link in AquaPlow's post.

Cheers and hope to see you there for what is billed as Queensland's Premier Kiting Event

Forecast may be a little light for State Titles this weekend but direction is perfect for Cotton Tree and at least the arrows aren't Red

Add 3 knots for the outgoing tide. If it was SE the lagoon would be a no-go.

There is an Event Area Map coming guys and will explain Kiting Locations on which side of the Sand Spit Peninsula depending on which wind direction for the Comp. I have been informed by an Old Salty Dog that Seabreeze's wind forecasts for Maroochydore when there are Northerlies, is not that accurate in comparison to BOM's Meteye as a better gauge. If that is the case then Meteye is forecasting 15 to 20 knot Northerlies most days, so far, keeping our flamin ball hairs crossed Anyhow, the weather will do what the weather does and unfortunately we cannot be held responsible or accountable for it. We can only try our best to put the comp on at a time of year where winds are of a greater predictability of showing up. The weekend we had it planned for a Month passed, would have been a no-go with only very light and unsuitable winds, which may now be to our advantage that we were delayed getting the permits. This caused moving the Comp to the current dates of this coming Friday 1st, Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd December and if these prove to be no good then we will be exercising our further reserve date option of the following week of Friday 8th, Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th December.

Cheers and see you all at the QLD Freestyle Kiteboarding State Titles 2017

From the Judge...
The 2017 QLD Freestyle State Titles are still going ahead this weekend!!!
We have a good looking forecast and although some sites like seabreeze have a little picture of rain, if you look into more detailed sites like BOM meteye or wind guru the rain will not show up until late Sunday after 4pm.
Wind is looking good for Friday, Saturday and Sunday with predictions of afternoon sea breezes of 15-20 knots!!
Gonna be a great weekend see you all there!!
