Hello, Qld kiting community,

I am travelling to Palm Cove Qld in late Dec and there for two weeks. Is there any wind this time of year - the largest kite I have is a 15m. Is it worth bringing as I understand the wind is not great? Advice, please!

Thanks,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

I've spent two winters kiting around that area and from what I understand, summer does not bring great kiting conditions. Also, in summer (November through May) you have to wear a stinger suit to protect yourself from the venomous Box jellyfish

I would suggest you contact Luke or Andy from Kiteboarding Cairns, they'll give you the info you need: kiteboardingcairns.com.au/

Hey Christian,

Thanks for the heads up and I will give Luke and Andy a call.

Or Brett at windswell which is the Port Douglas kite shop/school.
He also has a couple of boats and may be able to help you find somewhere offshore with better wind and less chance of stingy things.
