Family and I coming to Goldie 29-5th then noosa 5-14th. Will bring my 12 orbit and 9mtr(cab radar) TT, just hoping for some locations if possible. Prefer flat, but also love kickers. I am interested in starting to play in waves (smaller of course)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Have been reading a bit in other answers you all have provided.

Hi Vaas, look through the QLD section, there is a sticky or link somewhere to a Google Maps that lists all the kite spots across SE QLD. While in Noosa catch up with George and Fiona from Adventure Sports, they have a SMS group message they send out when River mouth (northerly on outgoing tide) or Lake Weyba (southerly non tidal) is working. Also do down winders you could join in on, there are about 3 Kitesurf groups on Facebook too.

Cheers Gateman,
I will look into. I was going to contact Adventure Noosa anyway as they have helped me with gear etc when I was starting. Very very nice people at that store.
I am going to assume I don't need to bring a wettie? as the water is much warmer then down here

I've been getting away with 1.6mm neoprene shirt just to counter wind chill after crashing so allows me to stay out longer. Also good sun protection but some blokes are out with no rashie or wettie at the moment.

Yeah I assumed so, thanks to all. heres to hoping the borders stay open. Headed up on the 29th.
VERY VERY excited to kite flat water. Also Sunshine beach looks great to play in some waves. Locally here its always chop/mush but swell there looks well spaced out. Any generalisation as to wind speeds eg 15-20? 18-25? as averages

vaas20 -
This wind rose chart gives a 50 year average for Brisbane 1950 - 2000 at 3pm most useful chart
so 30%+ easterly with wind velocity 30%+ NE etc
there are more modern charts - have not drilled down into these.
reg.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/wind/selection_map.shtml

predicting the border status -- much more unpredictable

cheers

Thanks Aquaplow,
Yes the border issue is one we are watching, holding little hope of making it by the 29th
It will suck for all if borders shut but we are with attitude of can't control it so just go wit it.

So happy for you that you got a great session in at the GC. Been up at Sunny Coast since Boxing Day and nothing. Hope it comes on for you at Noosa
