Hi guys,I have got a current Ozone bar and a Ozone kite but most of my other kites are North (Mono 2016, Fuse 2011, Rebel )
Wondering if I could use the ozone bar on North 4 line kites? Has anyone had issues with this and I'd assume need Kite pigtail changes? I know the issue with high Y in North but will it affect too much or negligible ?
Any input appreciated
Cheers

Try it. They will all fly with the low Y all 4 equal length line Ozone bar, and they will all flag out safely on the Ozone single front line safety flagging system

Hi Sonny,

North have a high split on the front lines of their kites, this creates a wider angle from split to kite. By using an Ozone bar, the split is from the trim which creates a very acute angle. The North will fly, but not well. The arc of the leading edge is designed for the high split. With a low split the wider angle holding the wingtips from flaring out won't work and the kite will flare and pivot more on itself. Trust me, you won't like it.

If you want a bar that will suit both kites, grab a Click bar with the adjustable split and changeable pigtails.

Hi Sonny

It's a good idea to try it and see for yourself as there are no safety concerns in this case. I thought of coming up with a chart like this many times but it ends up being fairly complicated and difficult to really have accurate, reliable and safe information given the wide range of equipment available.

I personally noticed the worst effects of mixing low V bars on high V kites using very large kites (17m). You may or may not notice any difference when mixing with smaller kites and I think it would also depend on which kites specifically and how strong the winds are as well. I regularly mix bars with High V and low V when I go foiling in Light winds with various kite sizes and don't notice any difference.

Unless I'm wrong I'm pretty sure the pig tails /larks head configuration is the same on both your bars so it should be a straight fit.

I fly my Rio on the north bar 50% of the time , never gives me any problems. (Maybe a bit less drift)
Have fun

The 2011 Fuse is a double line flag out. I would be highly careful about using that on a single line flag out. The reason North didn't convert over to single line flagging was that they couldn't get the full range to flag with the bridle design such that it didn't go into a loop when released.

Mono should be fine if trimmed to stop backstall. Rebel is 5 line only. No chance.

Could you elaborate on that a little? it would be helpful
Do monolith bars work with others kite brands?

That statement is incorrect... in a few ways.

normally folks say not to mix high and low Y but it really is a preference thing. Give it a go. Iv seen A North EVO that is meant to be on a duel line flag out, flag on one line. It didnt look pretty but worked fine.

I tried once (by lack of options on the day) using a high Y bar on a low Y kite and vice versa and I was a bit disappointed by the kite behavior. It works, but jumps and turns can be a bit erratic, as well as behavior in high winds I found. Though it depends on the kites I suppose, Cbulota/Christian above didn't have any troubles on small kites in light winds.

Other point to check is the lines lengths between rear and front, not sure if all brands are the same on that, use pig tails to compensate the gap if any or you might end up over powered or under powered, not fun.
So if you've got no other choice, it's better than nothing so that you can get on the water but maybe avoid extreme wind conditions, otherwise it's safer to have a bar that has a similar Y split. Or maybe there are ways to modify some bar lines to lower or raise the split.
The North click bar I think has that ability, so maybe worth adding it to that table.
Also, I saw a guy recently riding a F-one bar (not sure which year) on a North Evo kite so I'm not sure this table is fully correct but it's a good idea to make a compatibility table like that.

Hi, I'm in the same boat. Thinking of buying a North V-distributor and splicing a small loop on one of the ozone centre lines to fit it to. Just need to get the measurement back from the larks heads on a north lines. Might be slightly different though as the north lines are 1 or 2m metres shorter than the ozone.
These are $6 which is a better prospect than shelling out $600 for a new bar and lines.

.. maybe check out this one instead, its the newer version, maybe ya local North shop will have one! Or get it from their spare parts website! https://shop.northkiteboarding.com/en-gb/spareparts_all/spareparts_clickbar2018/v-distributor-ii-44800--8188?returnurl=%2fen-gb%2fspareparts_all%2fspareparts_clickbar2018%2344800-8188

Thanks for the tip Puetz.
There aren't any in oz atm but there are some due in Sydney on May 7th. If you go through a North agent it shouldn't cost the $19 freight - I think that cost is direct from OS.

Im trying to use a 2016 north mono 9m w a liquid force response bar and i think i might need to adjust the line lengths a little. Im getting heavy bar pressure and feeling overpowered even with max depower in winds that i should be fine in. Any suggestions on what to try? I noticed the newer Neos have a higher knot for front lines on a 4 line bar so im thinking of shortening my front lines...
