I have a Vader 5'1 and love it for all around mid to upper teens on up. I weigh 165 lbs / 75 kg.
My current lighter wind board is a 5'6 2013 Airush Cypher, doable from 13 knots on a 12 m kite.
I'm thinking about replacing it with an Evo 5'1 or 5'3 (nice close out pricing on both). Would the 5'3 be too much board for 75 kg in anything up to 20? I am thinking it may be a good small to medium wave board where I kite - towing with kite. I'm a novice paddle surfer / longboard.
I am similar weight and use cut off nose board as well in 18kn + use 21 Lt board and low wind use 24 Lt board , Like my board with planning hull I would go 5'1 Evo with 24.5lt These type of boards in lighter wind feel more like 27 Lt due to planning hull and more surface area in water

At your weight, I would get the 5'1 Evo - I'm same weight as you & had the 5'3. It was great that I could easily paddle surf it but did feel a bit too big with a kite.
I am 73kg, and my 5'1 Evo is the only kite surfboard I use. Feels plenty big (but not too big) and gets me going on an 8m neo in 17/18 knot wind no problem. Keep in mind an 8m neo is probably equivalent to a 9m most other kites.
Hope this helps.
Thank you guys for your recommendations. I'll go with the 5'1. While I'm at it I'll replace my 12m airush lithium. Like my airush waves in the smaller sizes.

I now have toppleover's 5'3" Evo and I am loving it!! I am 100kg and it is about as big of a board as I would want to kite with, at your weight go the 5'1"

Close out pricing? Where? Are you in Australia? I've even emailed firewire trying to get one in Aus...
I know SC boardsports in Caloundra had them on sale & had plenty of Hevo,s.
Must have been a while back 'cos they have all sold out now... Just checked.

Ok, soz - must have been longer ago than I remembered. They had quite a bit of stock, so now I'd be surprised if there's any stock left in Oz.
@ YB, glad your happy with the 5'3 mate
