Looking forward any info on the V6 of Zephyr, please. Generally their pace is 2 years and now it's been well over that...

The Ozone makes their kites quite a bit lighter than other manufacturers that their 5 strut kite is lighter than most others' 3 strut kites, which typically is an asset in light winds. I would like them to make also a one size smaller than the 17m for lighter riders.

Thank you!

Don't think that's going to happen...

Try maybe a 13 or 15m edge....I have an 11m and have also owned Zephyr's and found that the Zephyr has only couple more knts on the bottom end over the 11m edge....

Top end is a different story....

Zephyr V6 will be late this year. The current V5 is still a very good LW kite and also big person go to kite. The new version was delayed due to Ozone wanting to regroup the release dates of all kites to just prior to southern hemisphere summer and also due to the Amp V1 and R1 V3 and Pure V1 snowkite.

I've discussed a smaller Zephyr with Ozone (Eppo was pushing for it a while back) and their answer was no because they said they have kites that work well for lighter riders and I have to agree, the 14M Enduro V2 is excellent. I use mine a lot in preference to the Zephyr and I'm about 75kg riding surfboards mostly. When its really light I switch to a foil kite and the Chrono 13M V3 easily has better bottom end for me when combined with a LW specific TT like the Axis Patrol.

Having owned most model zephyrs, 2014 was my fave tbh, I've been playing around with a few others in the past few seasons but in the 14 mtr sizes, for me the wainmann and the cat v1 have been the pick for the sacrifice of a couple of knts on a tt, but as mentioned the zephyr has a strange ability to stay manageable when it picked up , a mate of same weight could ride nicely powered on a switchblade 8 and I'd still be on the zephyr, tbh now I'd not bother with a 17 in my quiver now

Thanks very much for the input guys.

So what I am after on this bigger kite is obviously the low end; I was in Cabo Verde before the Xmas and had my 2018 Neo quiver up to 10m and then 2018/19 Naish Boxer 12m. I only ride strapless surfboards. There were obviously some chop and waves, and what I found there was that the 12m didn't provide much more/if any lowend compared to 10m Neo (yeh, I know Neo has great lowend). On some days I went downwind when there were a couple of happy guys with Zephyrs and TTs. I wasn't able to test ride them unfortunately. Hence my question on if there was a new Zephyr coming anytime soon.

I had the Boxer with longer lines but no luck. It just feels a bit slow kite and for strapless tricks it's such a difference to be on 10m versus 12m kite for me. My fear is that Zephyr will have an even bigger negative characteristics of big kite although people say it's a nimble kite?

And about the Enduro2 14, I am not sure if it has significantly more lowend compared to my 10m?

Argh =/

It is nimble for a 17 hence my fave was the 2014, on a tt at 85/90 kg it's usable in12/13 knts and comes alive at 15 knts, I've still been out in mid 20s although a leg workout

How do you find the manoeuvrability of the 14m Cat V1 versus the Zephyr?

At 75kg my 12m Cat V1 is my go to kite and it's nimble enough compared with my 2015 Zephyr, which is considerably slower but the grunt it has in light wind is unreal. I've thought about going to 14m but often when most guys are out on 14's I'm going on my 12. The Zephyr has been my backup if it's been windless for too long!

Zephyr works better than an edge with a surfboard.
Drifts better, stop starts better
Though you do have to work the bejesus out of it
Straight up lawn mowing, i reckon the 13m edge has just as much bottom as the zephyr and probably more fun to fly

Yes the Zephyr is very predictable in its power / drift/ turning but agree you have to work bejesus out of it And attack the wave differently than V5 Reos

The 14m Enduro V2 does have at least 5 knots better low end than the 10, (or 10 Reo V5), I know because I have these kites. I also have a Zephyr V5 and I've stopped riding it in waves as I can get going in virtually the same winds by swapping to a larger volume surfboard, like the Evo 5'1", my weight is 75kg.
I think if you are heavier than 85-90kg then the Zephyr V5 is a good kite even for waves, but it does have limitations and a lot will still depend on the riders board and kite flying skills.
Neo's have more low end than some other wave kites because they are oversized compared to those other kites. I'm not saying anything negative about the kite and I have not flown one for 2 years, but they are definitely physically bigger, I think their 10m is about 11m in other brands.

Put my mate's 11m Neo up against my 10m 2018 Drifter & there wasn't much in it.
But I must say that IMO the Drifter in 10m size, feels to me like a big kite & has since been sold.

Love the 8m
