looking at some second hand gear
would a North Vegas 2013 be any good for someone new into the sport.
I do have some experience rode for a while back in the 2000.
Have also been windsurfing and surfing for 30 plus years.
I would consider my self a experienced windsurfer but a novice kiteboarder.
For a first kite best not to buy a Ferrari.. The reason it is priced to sell.. Not many people interested in this style...
As CHC suggests google.. The Vegas is a C Kite.. This means it is designed to move fast and perform.. It can very easily and quickly generate alot of power= g8 with experience lousy 4 learning.. Having said that all kites were C like when I learnt..
The bulk of the. Market today is backed off on pure C for control stability and simpler handling...
Most beginner kites are more than capable of being used for every thing except top end trick & wake style in competition... So all rounder.. Park and ride style is tied to learning.. Designed to mostly get you going and not requiring too much concentration so you can focus on your board and where u r going... Also good for surfing ; they drift down wind well and tend to not deliver power surges.. Kite world web site should have a review of most main stream kites for last 5+ years..
A C kite not good to learn on especially on the beach.. Too easy to not know what to do when things go wrong..and get hurt or hit others...
Cheers

Outer water just nailed my mo.
So three windsurfers purchased a 10m Naish aero and board in 2000, We just pumped the thing up- strut by strut and kited it-was too easy, then you drop the thing in the water and it was a nightmare to relaunch. Pull the bar behind you and swim toward the kite flat out and hope it settled in a relaunch position center of the power zone and took off hopefully without any lines wrapped around you.
so that kite was used less 5 times, ended up in a bin 2005.
lol, windsurfing sails had a better, high end and low end.
In 2008, I was on a bus with some stoked 14yr olds on route to kite. I had no chance of transporting my 8'6 board, mastfoot, mast, boom, sail, wetsuit and harness on the same bus.
Have not got a plane without a surfboard and kite since. Weddings excluded.

The Vegas 13 isn't the best nor the worst Kite to cut your teeth on, there are better , something like a neo/ catalyst
range would be more suitable

So it's easier on land then?

Apart from C style of kite not being ideal for learning as implied above, a 2013 is coming upto 7 years old. This could result in potential bladder leakage and other problems which is not something you want to have. Having a very experienced rider you trust to view any gear your considering would be advised.
