Hey, I've rented a house in ettalong for the christmas week. Family gathering.
I was going to bring a kite and board, to have a look ar Umina while im there.

Some threads make this sound fun, it would be good to catch up.

What strength are the winds normally ? i can bring 1 kite only
Im 120kgs and was going to bring the 10m and ocean rodeo twintip

Given that it's the middle of summer and the prevailing wind direction in summer is NE, you probably won't be kiting Umina, unless youre in the channel and there are far better places around further north on the beaches around the entrance.
If you get lucky and there is a southerly change come through then you probably want to be prepared for 20-25 knots (if its good). It really varies though and I have kited there in much lighter winds and much stronger (40knots). So in summary I would bring a few kites and be prepared to do some driving to get the better conditions in the likely event that a good southerly doesnt come through.

From my experience If you don't put a kite in the car it will blow 20 knots!!!
Then your misses will be pissed because you keep whinging!!!!!!!
Put the kite in the car already.

If you can only kite at Umina then you will be kiting in SSE to SSW which means if you are lucky enough to get a Southerly front in the week you are there then your best kite option is going to be 12m. I would also pack a surfboard as the box is great fun on a surfboard.

Plenty of downwinder opportunities this week. Not ideal for Umina

Hopefully you are around Monday. We might get our first southerly for year. You will find us at the final beach area near the channel.
