Hello all

i recently moved from windy WA to Sydney and now looking to get back to kitesurfing after a 3-month hiatus.

Sunday is looking windy but it's a westerly, what is the best spot to go kiting with that wind direction?

Happy to travel to the central coast or south of Sydney.

wave, flat or chop doesn't really matter, i just want to have some fun after a while off the water.

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

Kurnell on botany bay would probably be the best bet, if the forecast stays true westerly (with a hint of North) . You'll see a few kite there Sunday, I'll be one of them all going well, haven't been out for a few weeks either.

If its mostly westerly there are a couple rock groins that you can get some good flat water behind.

Cheers see you on the water!

The other choices north of Sydney are:

Canton (near toukley) for west to sou sou west.
Picnic Point at The Entrance for south west through to north west
Swansea Co-operative for south west
Squids at Belmont for west to north west

Out of all the SSW to WNW places, Canton Beach is the best. It waist deep and is about 20km away from the mountains, so the wind has time to work out the gusts :)
Canton dose work in a southerly, but can get a bit gusty when there is a bit of east in it. If that happens you can head to lakes beach (2min drive) With an awesome reef that makes a grate flat spot, and a start for a 10km down winder to some narly waves at Birdy Beach.
With Canton Beach you are within a 5 minute drive from any wind direction. Beach, Reefs and Lakes. And best of all there are no boats and crowds.
There is also a caravan park on the lake for the kiters who want to make a weekend of it.
ENJOY!!!! :)
