Has anyone experience in a downwinder from cronulla (near the wall or wanda if SW) to boat harbour in a S / SSW / SW ?

Looks like an upwind tack may be required at boatie to gwet over the finish line?

What is the deal with 2WD access to boat harbour? Would it be possible to leave a car in that tin shack shanty town?

Boat harbour and Wanda are opposite ends of the same beach - I've kited from Wanda to Boat Harbour, then back again. Not really worth doing as a downwinder I reckon.

You can pay $20 gate fee to park in the 2WD car park close to boat harbour. It's owned by a sand mining company. There is sometimes a guy on the gate, or some times he catches you as you leave. It was $20 last time I did it...might be more now.

But it it's only about 15 minutes kite down from Cronulla, so not really much of a journey...may as well do it in an easterly or SE and tack back up to Cronulla for free parking. I guess it could be a bit long to get back if it was South/south west though.
nice spot.

yeah i know thats why i am asking if anyone has done a downwinder.......

really only interested in it in a big southerly or south wester for some down the line action. looks like alot of effort to go all the way downwind and then tack back up??

Boat Harbour is $50 for day pass on a sunday now...
Priced themselves out of the game for me. Used to kite out there all the time.
