Where are all the aluula kites?

Have ocean rodeo released aluula kites in aus yet?

Anyone actually ridden one yet?

How long before I can get an ultra light stiff strong 3 strut wave kite or even a super super light 1 strut??

Hurry up and change the game already!!!!!

What? Why?

Because it is a huge mistake to announce a new product, and then not deliver it in a reasonable and short time frame. We take it to mean that the product doesn't really exist.

Same thing happened with the shift bar. That was a good 6-9 months from being able to register your email for interest until the product was physically in the shops.

I think in this case it was accidentally leaked earlier than they wanted so its probably going to be a long lead time.

Final kites are in Canada now, I expect to have demo's in a few weeks in Aus.

Youngbreezy - WA in the front of the list for a demo Roam, they will be worth the wait.
In the meantime if in Perth hook up with Bonny if you get a chance, he has some demo standard dacron Roam kites over there, these are already lighter than most one strut kites.
All kite weights are listed on the Ocean Rodeo website.

It's a similar sound that is made when you invest in Bitcoin.

I've had the Aluula Roam 10m here for a few days now, albeit in light winds, and a few peeps have had a run on it now, twintippers, SB and foilers.
All the feedback is the same, light, quick and responsive, super smooth, fantastic kite.
Wave riding and foiling is going to be crazy on this kite, it doesn't drift it floats. You have so much confidence in the kite.

Pricing, it'll be different for everyone whether they decide it's worth it for them, but for me - now I've been there I'm not sure I can go back.
My 2020 Roam 10m felt like a heavy 15m when I changed back to it.

Unfortunately we haven't been blessed with wind so its going to be up to the WA crew to get some decent video.

This kite is super stable in the air in very little wind- here's Adam from The Kite Loft giving it a test.

It was about 6 knots in the first part of the video. And more like 4knots at the end. You edited out me picking up trash from the water EastCC. And squeeljng as i whent through a heap of vlue bottles. Doing my bit!. Lol. What an incredible experience to have fun in such light wind with a run in tide.

Yeah it was really light. We only put it up to see if it would fly.
Next week mate.
That would be great.

I assume the price information comes from here www.adventurekiteboarding.com/2020-ocean-rodeo-aluula-roam-kite/

A 10m kite only is USD$2,189.00. Transferwise converts that to AUD$3255. I assume you have to add postage, GST and duties onto that. Hopefully this is not the real price.

Kitepower shows $2280 for a 1m Switchblade. I might pay a couple of hundred dollar premium for a better kite. There's no way I am going to pay $1000 extra.

Even then, you can buy excellent kites from Switch for just over $1000.

At the moment I can't see much of a market for Aluula kites. Once the wind is 15 knots then anything will fly just fine and relaunch easily. After that it's up to the rider. Would an Aluula kite let me do anything I can't do now?

There might be a demand in the 5-15 knot range. I can foil quite comfortably in 10 knots +/- a couple of knots. I might consider an Aluula kite if it can be demonstrated that I can ride comfortably in the 5-10 knot range.

The bottom line is, I'm not going to pay big bucks for a better kite. It's more fun to practice more and just improve my skills. I might pay the extra money if it lets me do things I currently cannot do.

Wow. So much negativity on this thread.
I will pay the extra. Kites last five years, average it out $200. I want the best gear money can buy

The kite doesnt just fly better in light wind. The wieght reduction also allows it to drift better. The stiffness allows it to turn faster, and the durability means it will requier less repairs due to reef, rock cuts and such. For an instructor, its almost paramount to have one as it opens up your lesson days heaps. And while the price may be more. I think it will reduce your quiver size.

From what I have heard, the Aluula makes a huge difference to kites larger than 9m, but the performance difference in 9 and smaller is not really enough to warranty the steep price tag.

We should have Aluula kites next season (2021). Everything I've heard about the Aluula is amazing and this info was not just from OR reps, so all good. I'm looking forward to these kites but more from a foiling perspective where larger kites will fly better with the reduced weight.

The price of standard quality brand kites is "up there" already and we are getting "push back" from many buyers at todays prices, so I don't expect the take up to be massive from the surf crew in WA who all use kites smaller than 9m, but like I said, the foilers who want light wind performance and don't want to go with a ram air foil kite, this could be a good choice. Having said that, a counter to these could also be the Flysurfer Peak 4 single skin kites than fly well in less than 4 knots and will be less than 1/3 the price of Aluula kites.

I just don't know, but am staying very open minded on this one. I like new tech

Just my 2c worth.

up there.... its about the same as Duotone !

I remember it being marketed as lighter than the 1 struts..... so what does the 10 meter roam weigh?

Less weight =more drift not sure the peak is really up to drifting, or relaunching in waves. Plus the stiff frame which makes the kite faster on the aluula. Overall longevity in a kite will be worth the money.

Twist /flex (towards tips) allows kites to turn faster

i don't see a current problem with drift that needs solving unless you are into super lightwind wave riding which is kind of useless anyway if there is any kind of downwind angle.

Hopefully this new material is cheaper than dacron!
