Has anybody in WA walked into a shop and bought a roll of tear-aid the only place I can find it is online and from the east coast always prefer to buy local but fast running out of options
I've bought 2 rolls locally, 1 from WA surf several years ago and more recently (couple months ago) at complete angler and camping Dixon rd rockingham. Hope this helps
Thanks appreciate that I'll check it out I contacted tear-aid Australia and they have told me they do not have any stockists in WA they only sell online nice one
Hi KAOS69
If it helps you we sell small strips of tear-aid on our website:
www.kitebud.com.au/product/tear-aid-type-a-self-stick-bladder-repair-patch/
Kite shops being closed during lockdown you can't walk into a shop at the moment.
Tear aid type A is a wicked product, the sail doctor in WA has it, or if you ride ozone you'll find some clear and colour coded in your repair bag,Ryan's doing a drop at the door service atm, but your looking to be set free on Friday down the big smoke
I have so many kite repairs going.my normal supplier who I have bought from for years has run out I buy them in 9 m rolls as I double patch all my valves this week I have done over 100 valves small strips and patches are just not enough unfortunately. I have contacted tear-aid Australia directory and they do not have outlets and WA nor can they recommend anybody who will sell it. They will only do online sales and as you know this is WA and Everything takes two weeks to get here. That's why I was hoping that somebody may have brought the smaller 1.5 m rolls of tear-aid from a shop here in WA. as a lot of my kites are going back up north they need to be double patched otherwise they will fail due to be extreme heat they will be exposed to. So if anybody can recommend shop that sell it that would be a appreciated
Try GID Distributors. Joel is the man there. He gets it by the rolls.
But may I ask, you repair valves with Tear Aid? Hmm maybe down there as the weather is cooler, but up here tear air sweats and slides off on some hotter days.

Either you're not preparing the bladder properly before you apply it, or the kite has been left in the back of a car where temps can exceed 70C
Kitepower sells it in strips or by the roll and we have it in stock. You'll need to call for roll pricing. 0295296894

G i d distributors are out of stock for the next 6 weeks. There is nowhere in WA you can walk in and buy it I am so surprised it is such a good product.
as for replacement of valves as you would know there are many different sizes and shapes so to stock them with patches is a waste of time as they will deteriorate if they are not used. so I buy all my valves as blanks. First remove the old valves. 2 depending what the bladder is made of as there are several different types of material will depend on what type of priming fluid is used to prepare for gluing once glued (different glue as well) 10 kilos of weight is applied to the valve and left to set for 24hrs. That alone is sufficient to never leak but I always patch with genuine tear aid all valves as a lot of them we'll head up into the Kimberley and Pilbara region where it is very hot. I have been repairing kites for over 15 years in that time I have done of thousands and never had one returned so hopefully I am doing it a correct way.
A valve repaired with just a patch will work if prepared properly And is a sufficient quick fix but will not have the Longevity of being glueded as well.

Obviously you have never been to WA cooler is not a word I would use to describe the climate here. Up north in the Kimberley and Pilbara is regularly over 40c but that is in the summer time and there is no wind anyway just the occasional cyclone which brings Wind waves to l brothers and sisters in the North.

Wow straight to the jugular there Steve. Not surprised.
I've been doing bladder repairs since 2015 and had only problems after problems with TA-A. The glue never dries (you can't deny that is not true). I am referring to the stick-on valves. The glue and with the humidity here at times, shows that the glue is not made for our climate. Yes I prepare the material in a dust-proof chamber in fact and super dry. It's not that the TA-A itself comes off, it's the valve. It slides out of the TA-A after a while in the sun and of course air leaks. I've always repaired bladders and valves now with another glue. Never had a problem, and the kite *can* be left in the car - believe it or not after my repairs. But hell, why should I be justifying to you, I'll never know.
So it's valve coming off the tear aid, not the tear aid coming off the bladder... which is what you initially said. There is nothing better than tear aid for fixing bladders if done correctly. Not having a go, I have had tear aid come off before but it was because I didn't prep the bladder material well enough.
Correct. Sorry, TA-A on bladders directly, done properly is solid as. It's the valve glue on those stick on valves, that I am referring as being useless up here in the tropics. It works for a while, but like you said depending on the heat and storage, the valve slides off or can easily be pulled out of the TA-A circular trap, if you know what I mean. All good.
