Hi,
I have booked some cheap flights to Brasil in Sep-Oct and I need some advice on where to kite. Taiba looks like a great option. I don't ride a TT so I'm looking for a wave oriented spot. I will be packing the SB but I don't think I will get much swell no matter where I go. I have 6 weeks to sort out. Probably do 10 days kiting and then I will travel around after that. I have never been to South America.
Open to suggestions...
Thanks!

I am a fan of Taiba, bought a block of land there. There is waves out the front, a bit more than Cumbuco. If there isn't enough wind, head north. Downwinder heaven!

Thanks Jack,

You wouldn't mind if I pitched a tent on it for a week or two then! When you say there is always waves, I can only find photos or video of 2 ft slop, Is that pretty much what's on offer for that time of year? Looking at the photos from Saquarema today I might be better off surfing there!
Cheers.

It's mainly wind driven but the outer reefs throw up some surprisingly good waves. It's not really ocean swell though, you will need to head south for that!

...and feel free to camp, but the pousada next door is probably a bit nicer

If you want good waves go to the south like Imbituba

Head to Paracaru about half an hour west of taiba and Icaraizinho, like Jack said its down winder paradise and not so good on the waves.

I'm not sure if you want to know... There was Qantas sale a few weeks ago. I just picked the two cheapest flights I could find. I picked up return flights to Sao Paulo for $1200. I will have to buy another flight up to Fortaleza, I'm considering a Brazil Airpass so I can fly to a few other spots to save some time. I am stopping over in Santiago for a few days on the way home. Sadly not enough time to head up to Pacasmayo in Peru... I might try and sneak up to Maccu Pichu which is a bit closer. Still lots of planning to do.
Have a good trip!
