That's for the review Nathe, Some good points there.
Dazzed, That airush board is one strange ass board!
Leigh, Exactly!
That is the advantage of building your own board. To work narcissistically only for you.
Production boards have to make a compromise for the masses. On a side note if i was a board buy and not a builder i would buy a nomad board. They are the shizzle!

Hey Plum
Might get a few ideas from the new Nomad Mutant.Arrhk Pricey

That's it can't give all the credit to the Germans.
Simon is great to deal with.

What do you reckon the nomad hooked concave does? I don't think I've seen that on any boards before.

The OR mako is concave (nomad looks like a copy), gives more surface area and lift over chop and dig rails in for carving

They do look similar but the Nomad (for whatever reason) rides much better, surfs much better than the Mako.

The planshape of a Nomad wave may look similar to a Mako but that as far as it goes.
Nomad Carbon boards weigh half as much as makos.
Nomad waves only have 11mm concave not 18mm.
No comparison in performance and speed, carves harder .
Costs are higher about 25%
Why wouldn't you for better performance.

...the nomad also has some flex in the board to. The mako is far too rigid and has far too much concave. Had three of them, now none.

The nomad is a far superior design and product.

No further forward than my Rev 2 I uploaded. I've got to procure a bunch of materials and make an insurance claim before I start.

Will be a few a month or so before I have anything tangible.

But I am happy with rev2 design. So I will run with those dimensions.

My dyslexia got the better of me, and merged two lines of thread titles and I thought this thread was called "Show me new TiTs".

I'm disappointed with the content...

Although the 3D thing is cool Can design in browser or do you have to upload a file? Is that front fin on the wrong side?

I'm designing in Fusion 360. It'd a bloody powerful cad 3d modeling software that can do most things full blown SolidWorks can do. Plus is free for enthusiasts..... this is a link spat out by fusion. You cant design in the browser. Go download fusion it and start playing. There are tones of open source u tube clips on how to model in fusion. It won't take you 5 mins, however. Learning to model takes extensive time to become proficient.

Front Fin is indeed on the wrong side if you are not a goofy weirdo like me.

You can buy a cheap overhead router unit, slap a 1-1/2 to 2 hp router if that cad is compatable

I ride out through the waves natural foot and boost board backwards. Then i ride back in and down the line goofy toeside facing the wave. The toeside front fin can catch riding down the line. I did some tests to see if i lost grip for boosting without that fin and couldnt feel any difference. So i took it off and smother down the line action without the fin.

Wouldn't you be better off with a more rounded tail on a mutant so you can carve your turns better? Some of those shapes don't look much different to twin tips with big fins.
I am about to make one ( surfboard style with some thickness in it) but looking to go something like a thumbnail or rounded pin.
mind you I've never ridden a mutant only twin tips or boards.

Its all a compromise. Yes, If you want better wave carving a rounded profile will be better. But you give away surface area, efficiency and load and pop ability. So.... where do you want to sit wave vs upwind vs load up for a jump? The better the wave performance the worse the jumping and upwind performance as far as tip shape is concerned. On my next build i'm leaning a more towards TT jump performance and giving away some wave performance.

Yeh ,ok I thought that may have been the answer but wasn't sure if I was missing anything.
Do you toe your fins in at all?

Amirite. It's pretty damn cool to visualize something before you build it. It helps with final design.
