Hi all,
for those who think the new Rebel with 4 lines is s**t compared to the old 5 line one I encourage you email or send Facebook messages, we might get them to bring it back.
My view is the following:

the 2018 Rebel with 4 lines has been a huge change, the kite is now longer for the same kite size as the 5 lines models, this makes the kite very different in many ways:
1. Almost impossible to relaunch the kite in a big wave sea.
2. Kite is less stable than the 5 lines version
3. Turns are less fluid
4. 5 lines have a better feel on the bar
5. 5 lines are more predictable kites
6. Better feel on gusty winds
7. When you eject the bar the 5 lines system allows for a recovery in the sea much easier

Also after a big winter of eating pies the five lines can lift a big load more safely (kind of like having a shackle and chain securing your trailer)

For the mentally challenged
4 instead of five lines is a great move

Does it not have a 5th line option?

I'd say yes but not fully loaded only for safety, clever though as you'll need imho a one Kite bigger quiver, very few kites could hold big winds like the rebel or Vegas, my 9 vegas seemed to have a limitless top end, I'd be out on it when others were on 6/7 scomplaining about windstrengths, bloody great Kite in those conditions, up here there was a cult following and tbh most are piffed at that change to 4
itd be interesting making a comparison on say a 9 in 30 to see the difference

I've said all I have to say about the new Rebel on this and the other forum.

It's just a completely different kite really.

People forget it's not just the loaded fifth, the older rebel had NO pulleys and NO bridles.

As I said a completely different kite.

4 is less than 5 lines to untangle

Have you send them an email or a message through Facebook or email?
A group of friends and I have done so... Maybe we get them to bring the kite back.

shame they are not 2017's, I'd grab them...

... Don't worry I know they do keep check of the forums..it's a small world the kiting world.

...do worry, because they probably don't give two sh1ts what you or I think and nor should they.

Plus it doesn't help with all the shmucks spruiking how good the 2018 was in comparison...bahahahahahaa, idiots.

Let's see what the 2019 is like, never know Ken might work his magic, but the change is so great I doubt even he can provide that rebel feel and performance we all have come accustomed to. The markets changing, so they have to adapt. I totally get that.

Doesn't really matter though to us, after they created the 2018 evo abortion as well, the crew I ride with are all looking at other brands this summer anyhow. pffff move on.

At least the neo and dice are still great kites. The mono is a damn good foiling and surf kite I've heard.

Bin the Rebel and Evo and start the fck again I say.

Fck said too much again...

Interesting to hear rumours on the other side.

Mono is a good learner kite but I wouldn't say its any better than that (and I'm classing learning on a foil in with that). Sure it will surf but why would you get it instead of the Neo if you want to surf? The problem is that the other brands make a better version of it at the moment. The only thing I can think that the mono does better for foiling (and this is a debatable plus point) is the weak loop power.

Rumour I heard was the 2018 Evo was redesigned to be that 'first kite' for new people to the sport. Before this, the Neo was being pushed by shops as the user friendly first kite because it did everything so well and that was starting to dilute the wave credentials. Solution was to shift the 'first kite' market onto the Evo and move the Neo back to the wave market. With the Rebel becoming a 4 line kite, it kind of made the Evo redundant. Thats the rumour anyway. Maybe Ken got bored of working on kites without bridles? There must be loads more work involved in prototyping as you can't fix a wonky design with a bunch of pulleys in the bridle if you accidentally introduce a problem in the canopy design with the rebel?

Didn't make the evo redundant though did it? The new rebel (not sure why we even call it a rebel but hey) doesn't fly anything like the older evo.

Nope, they just turned two really great kites into two superbly average crapola kites.
