I was practicing a ocean pack down yesterday. When I pulled my first safety, the kite dropped but the strong wind pulled the kite downwind and snapped my safety line (effectively the same as pulling my second safety). How do I re-attach it? Is a simple knot like I've done in the photo ok?
Lol, the granny knot. There are better knots.
i was told tie a knot in a rope and halve it's strength at the knot, (dont know if that's correct). How did it snap? If it is general fatigue, knots are not a solution, more like a risky session saver it will break there again, consider the impact on you and others when it fails, Not if.
At least tie a bow after the granny knot so it looks pretty.
Na, go buy a knew one mate.
Oh wait, just saw your from WA,,,,,,,and its your safety line,,,,,,,
carry on.
That's a Peter Lynn Navigator bar, no? Hmm I would change the line (or the lot) entirely mate. Attach all your lines (except the safety since it's snapped) onto a pole or rope around a pole, and pull as hard as you can using your harness. Be ready to break another line or two, which means the entire set needs to be replaced for your own safety. The PL navigator bar is a good setup, but the lines,,, hmmm to be honest I've seen better quality elsewhere.
