Hi, looking at changing my harness from the Mystic Legend with a fixed hook. I've been getting lower back pain and have partially put it down to riding switch (surfboard and foil) with a fixed hook and flexible harness. My harness twists and it definitely increases the load on my L2 and L3 (my problem areas). It's costing my $30 a fortnight in physio for dry needling (after Bupa pay half).

Anyone got any suggestions - I was thinking a hard shell harness with a sliding hook. Tried a few on and they seems lot more locked in. Not sure if that's good or bad for the back long term.

I'd prefer a waste harness over a seat.

Thanks

I switched to a hardshell harness 5 years ago and have never looked back. Previous harness was a Mystic Warrior, with a sliding rope. No matter how tight I would get the harness, it would still slide around and up. No issue and more. Not sure if this is specifically going to help your L2 and 3 but I have never had any back issues since swapping over. There are several companies now that make them, so go try a few out. I have been on the Ride Engine.

Was getting super sore back for days after a session on soft shell harness, got a Ride Engine hard shell and no issues now hey.

Expensive but cheap compared to back pain

Have you considered shorts harness - Ion B2 or DaKine Nitrous style?

They work really well with slider / low friction ring and no load on the back at all.

They also don't look like you're wearing a nappy unlike some waist harnesses.

Good for saving on rib bruising to!

I found my ride engine constantly rode up more than my current warrior? I've got a slipped or bulging disc, so I can only ride for an hour or so before it gets unbearable, wondering if a seat harness is the way to go and what are the cons? Cheers (sorry not trying to steal the post)

100% agree with the above. Had the same thing, switched from mystic majestic, to mystic X.
No more issues.

Definitely agree here.
If your mystic x or ride hardshell doesn't work, this is a great option, and they're the lightest. Throw a slider bar on and you're good to go.

Check out the Ride Engine Australia site they have some good deals on last year's hard shells..
I love the rope slider for foiling.

Unfortunately, I also often have such pain but I was lucky to find out that kratom can help me and in this way, I have no problem and directly as I feel that I have pain as small as it is, I immediately consume quality kratom for all kind of pain from sakratom.com and get rid of it. Because I saw that it really works, I also recommended it to my grandparents because they are already old and have a lot of pain often and I was really sorry to hear that something still hurts. I also consulted with some doctors and they said that it is a really good solution.
