I hear you and agree I can reduce risk by improving skills etc. The day I did it I was in 'attack' mode, was sloppy with technique and had already messed up some jumps. I also remember wedging my feet in tight to my straps before the accident in the hope of staying more connected. So silly I know. Lesson learnt! The problem I now have is my wife will probably leave me if I go back to straps and the accident happens again as the disruption caused to my family and work has been huge. I'm also not keen ever to repeat the 600 m crawl back up the beach to the carpark which I had to do after the accident. Thankfully we had just started our downwinder!
