Hey foilers- I purchased a Shinn Jackson board 2 weeks ago and already the glue holding the foam decking down is failing ??
Is this a common problem with this Shinn board ?
Ive contacted the shop but so far no response ??

I have same board now over 12 months old and friend also.
Both boards same issue.
But easy fix with contact glue after good preparation.
Quality control always ensures consistent production and seems still a consistent issue.
Very good board and a keeper for me.

Hey Warwickl - thanks !
I did a search on 'known problems' before buying - seems I need to improve my googling skills !!
I found I could remove the old glue by rubbing the board with a finger and it just rolls up so have now given it a clean with acetone and Ill wait a day to make sure its all dry before fixing with contact adhesive.
It is a nice board to ride and very forgiving when I vent the foil - amazing really!! Just a shame that just 2 weeks in Im already fixing it !!

Shinn are known for their outstanding customer service. Just contact them directly. They'll probably send you a new pad.

Hi Lambie
My Jackson is a year old and its had the same issue, the fix is easy I use Tarzan grip, while its a bit annoying its been a great package to take me from beginner to intermediate. I would not be trying to replace as the Tarzan grip works
Mark Shinn does reply to emails and seems to care
If only I could nail foiling tacks and gybes

Contact your retailer, if no luck your manufacturer,
Shinn have outstanding customer care, so if your retailer does little go direct, at times your retailer Carnt be arsed with warranty issues, imho this shouldn't reflect on a brand

Hi Lambie,
I replied to your email the following day (we close 2pm sunday)...Maybe got filtered somewhere? Sorry, will give you a call tomorrow. If you are confident enough to repair yourself, any costs involved will be covered.

Mark confirmed this one was not prepared properly before glueing. This is the first pad we have seen peel off.

Peace McCormack

Hi
This is not a negative comment on KP as I have always had excellent service from them and good prices including my Shinn Jackson.
Pad lifting is common but no big deal and very easy fix. Mine lifted soon after purchase over 12 months ago I reglued and no further problems. I reglued friends as well.
Maybe I should have given feed back to help Shinn with QC.
I can also vouch for Shinn as all direct comunication is promptly handled with helpful responses.

Turns out I forwarded Lanbie's e-mail to another inbox and then replied to myself....

I will give feedback to Mark, it seems these may have been from an earlier batch where they didn't sand the gloss coat on the board and also didn't apply a whole lot of contact adhesive. Any further issues like this let us know, will look after you
