Ladies and Gents

Just a quick followup on the New Konrad Versa foil board which I actually received as a warranty replacement for the older styled Versa board last year. I had received the board at the end of August however only rode it once or twice before I managed to injure myself and was off the water until mid January this year, surf but not foiling related .

Anyway have been back through February and March both on the surfboard but probably a little more on the foil and am absolutely loving the new Versa board although a very different version of the previous board.

When starting out foiling at the end of 2017 I loved the easy of the learning curve with the multiple Konrad mast sizes and the the flexibility and forgiveness of the old style Versa foil board. However moving from beginner to the intermediate realm you look for more stiffness and speed in the board. This is certainly offered by the new board, it took a little while to get used to it however, a few session on I feel super confident going into down loop gybes or transition tacks, not necessarily nailing all of them but it certainly feels more precise. When it comes to riding and carving down the line on small waves it again feels so much smoother and controllable even when the wave starts ramping up a bit.

Lent the board to mate of mine at Fisho's, Matt a bit of a foil legend and this is what he had to say 'Tried the Konrad and really liked it! Nice and stable, silent and was surprised how quickly it turned when I was trying small carves. The little bit of extra weight in the board I think helps with the carving. I think once I set it in motion during the carve the weight helps take some of the work out of completing it. With mine I have to keep really pushing it all the way through. Nice unit'

All in all a great upgrade, there are a few of us riding these at Fisho's in the NE's or give James a ring at ProKite Australia to have a go.

Demo Versa board and liked it, but it is 'paper thin', totally not suitable for kitesurfing, so easy to damage!

I thought I caused the damage (did not look at it when I got), ended up fixing what was there to start with. This board will not last two seasons.

First time I have heard anyone say extra weight on a foil board is beneficial.

I believe Matt was suggesting the additional swing weight, ie slightly larger board was beneficial and helped carving however like anything there is a fine line between not enough and too much swing weight.

Are you talking about the latest version of the Versa board as in the picture, mine seems solid, its rolled on to the beach and taken and number of hits with no damage at all to the board as yet.

Sorry, not sure, had a demo but don't know which version it was (on loan because I had issues with a foil I bought).

If they improved the strength it was a wise move.
