Two kite foilers and a sailor girl...

In the leadup to the Kitefoil Gold Cup, Nic Douglass who you may know from her online persona: 'Adventures of a sailor girl' caught up with two of the fastest foilers in the series, Ricky Lecesse and Nico Parlier to find out what's what, in the world of kite hydrofoil racing. It's all about the gear according to the boys, from their 'super complicated' foil kites, to the 'don't touch it!' hydrofoils, you can see that tuning the equipment is a major part of the sport. With the development rules in the hydrofoil class, many are still sanding, filing and adjusting their foils in a last minute attempt to gain that extra 1%. On the contrary is the formula kite class scene, where the boards and fins have reached the limits and riders are simply showing up assembling and racing their gear. The Kite Foil Gold Cup kicks off on October 8th out of the Townsville Yacht Club, and already most of the competitors are on location, hard in training. Conditions are ideal for the hydrofoils, with only small chop and winds in the 10-15 knot range forecast. Find out what makes Ricky and Nico tick, when they're interviewed by the quirky and charismatic Nic from Adventures of a Sailor girl in the video below!
