Susi Mai to leave Cabrinha?

Susi Mai's alluding to a split with Cabrinha, for Tona.
In what’s set to be the biggest move since Andre Phillip left Cabrinha, Susi Mai has this week teased that she too might be leaving the kiteboarding giant to ride for the niche wakestyle company Tona kiteboards.

As a bit of a ‘Happy New Years’ present to the worlds kiting community, Susi has released three photo’s, each captioned #thereveal and all containing glimpses of Tona kiteboards. In an earlier post on social media, she also thanked Cabrinha for ‘All the support over the years’, a statement often expressed by those leaving former sponsors.

Former team mate Andre Phillip went down a similar route a few years ago, after he asked Cabrinha to ride Tona boards. The company said no, asking him to ride their own boards, or none at all, so he left. Later buying shares in the company, and moving to Slingshot kites who were more than happy to allow him the freedom to ride Tona kiteboards. If Susi wants to ride Tona, then history would have it she’s ditching the Cabrinha’s to do it, leaving a huge dent in the Cabrinha team where she’s been a crucial member since the company began.

This leaves another question, who’s kites will she ride? With connections to some of the worlds most powerful people, in both the kiting and business communities, Susi could literally be hooked up with any brand on earth. Rumour is that it’ll be Slingshot like Andre Phillip, but until the big reveal, we’re going to be watching with great interest!
