Ready to take your kitesurfing skill to the mountains?
Imagine a sport that combines the freedom and exhilaration of kiteboarding, with the physical challenge and adventure of skiing and snowboarding!
Jennie Milton has been snowkiting for 15 years and is considered one of the top women in the sport. She has been teaching kiting on snow and water for over 10 years and is also a ski instructor and backcountry guide.
This is the first time Jen has offered multi-day snowkite training, opening up a new sport to kiters and skiers in an introductory value-packed tour in Australia, and the opportunity for advanced snowkiters to ride big mountains in Alaska.Kiting on snow is the winter version of kiteboarding on water. Whether you’ve been kiting for years or only just
started, snowkiting will challenge your skills and ultimately improve your kiteboarding technique.
Thredbo is the perfect location for learning to snowkite, whether it's your first time, or you have some basic skills. Being able to explore the main range makes this one of the premier snowkite locations in the world!
Snowkiting is easy to learn, and it won’t take you long before you're cruising around. Jen will also teach some hill climbing techniques, and with some practice, you'll be able to use the kite like your own ski lift to get some vertical turns (wave kites that drift are great for this technique).
In March 2019 Zephyr will run its first Alaska Snowkite Trip and over the two day Thredbo weekender you'll gain a better understanding of what's involved in this ultimate adventure for mountain lovers that will let you take your snowkiting to the next level.
The Alaska tour offers snowkiting in big mountain terrain, heli-skiing, ice climbing, ski touring, glacier and iceberg tours and more!
It is possible to join the Alaska tour without first taking part in the Thredbo trip, but if you attend Thredbo you'll be ready to tackle the big mountains!
