How to Make a Kiteboarding Video (Or not)

"If you want to maximize views, and get the maddest respect from your peers, make sure to follow Sam Medysky and Craig Cunningham's tips."
The art of cinematography was once reserved for the elite few who could afford a camera and an editing studio. Now, anyone can become a film producer with just a GoPro and a laptop; all you need is something exciting to tell a story about! Kiteboarding is pretty exciting, but many kiters aren't cut out to be film makers.

Sam Medysky and Craig Cunningham are here to help! These two are renowned for releasing some pretty decent kiting clips in their time, racking up numbers on YouTube and shipping the dollars off to their sponsors. Metaphorically anyway. Nobody gets rich on Youtube.

Wait, do they?

Sorry if you were actually looking for some tips on making a great kiteboarding movie. There are none here. With tongue in cheek, these two have compiled a list of the corniest, most done-to-death features in kiteboarding movies over the years. Especially those shot in Brazil, where beach buggies and bikinis form the basis of almost every single one.

"Choose one of the following intro's" They suggest."Driving your dune buggy on the beach - be sure to include a GoPro selfie. Slow motion of you walking with your board - remember, the more angles the better. Waking up and getting out of bed to check the conditions outside. Setting up your gear - be sure you include kite, bar, lines, harness, boots. And, boots again…"

For a bit of fun, we compared their 'How to make a kiteboarding video' guide to

' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'> Ewan Jaspan's latest clip, 'Allow It', which was filmed in Brazil and released last week.

Slowmo introduction of beach walking? Check Comeback from Injury? Check Grabs slow motion? Check Lifestyle shots of the local area? Check Gratuitous shots of Bindings? Check Sunset shot to end the video? Check!

Now in all fairness, Ewan's new movie is actually really good. If you haven't seen it yet then

' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'> do yourself a favour and check it out here, because he has made a remarkable comeback from injury in the last year, and his riding is on par with those leading the freestyle world tour. Sam and Craig are good mates with Ewan too, so they wouldn't be paying his latest video out directly!

Watch this video first though, because it's hilariously accurate and adds a whole new dimension to every Brazil based kite video you'll ever watch!
