About Us

ActionSportsWA Kite School (Australian Kiteboarding School) was born in June, 2000 in Sydney, N.S.W. mostly so that we could go kiteboarding every day without the tiresome interruptions of a full time job!
It was early days for the sport, there were no kiteboarders, no shops selling kites, no schools or instructors, kites were almost impossible to find, let alone buy, and the stoke was as pure as it ever was.  We saw a need for quality tuition, we registered the business and began teaching at Dolls Point in Sydney before most people had ever even heard of Kitesurfing

Back in 2000, AKS ("Australian Kiteboarding School" as it was known then) was a one man business running out of the back of a Ford Falcon station wagon. We started teaching with the only kiteboarding kites available, the "Wipika 2-line classic" kites of which we had three to select from, and a single board.

Fast forward to the present.  ASWA has been trading for more than 16 years and has continued as the most successful and best known school in Australia, having remained the benchmark in teaching excellence and safety.
ASWA is the oldest school in Australia still under original ownership, despite many changes along the way. With the growth of the sport, we saw a need to grow the school and to take a leadership position within the coaching industry.

While we don’t promise to make our students the best kiters in the world during their lessons, we make them self-sufficient, and safe all while having fun!
